Eylandt and Noord Reserves

‘Eylandt’ and ‘Noord’ are my reserve releases, available in standard 750mL and magnum 1.5L bottles. The wines are made only in the finest of years from the best parcels of fruit. They both enjoy extended skin and lees contact, partial old barrel fermentation, are unfined and vegan friendly. They are made to be the purest, finest expressions of Tasmanian Riesling capable of extended ageing.

Eylandt and Noord – meaning island and north- are taken from the journal of Abel Tasman when he sighted lutruwita/Tasmania in 1642. Eylandt is made in a true ‘kabinett’ style: off-dry and lower in alcohol with a crisp finish and heady aromatics; Noord is made dry and is kept on lees in large seasoned oak puncheons for 8 months before bottling. The wines are both textural, elegant and intense: unique representations of the finest Riesling that can only be grown and made on this island.

2021 is the current release and the season dictated we make an Off-Dry style. The ferment was stopped early to retain natural grape sugars, balancing exceptional acid structure. It is available now online, in 750mL bottles and a limited run of 30 hand-bottled magnums.

“icy brilliance, strict tension and disarming potential … engineered for the long haul” – Tyson Stelzer for the Halliday Wine Companion

“possibly the finest suite of Rieslings in the southern hemisphere” – Ned Goodwin, MW for JamesSuckling.com
